Carrot Halwa

A very happy Diwali to all... Thinking of a Diwali post I was really confused, there was a lot to choose from. Finally I decided on this one. Its a popular dessert throughout India and i think there isn't a food blog without this recipe. Its my favorite too.

Hot Milk Sponge Cake

This is the cake with which I started my baking. The recipe is simple and always gave good results which gave me confidence to move on to more complex cake recipes. The recipe din call for any costly ingredients,

Paal Payasam

This paal payasam is very easy to make and tastes divine just like those you get in wedding sadhyas. As the festival of Onam is fast approaching am posting this as one of my Onam recipes. How many of you are fans of those rose coloured paalada pradhaman

Karachi Halwa / Cornflour Halwa

Happy Janmashtami to everyone. Here is a sweet dish to celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna. I know this not a traditional dish cooked on this occasion, I was planning to cook something related to the festival but a fever has held me from kitchen.

Moist Chocolate Cake

This chocolate cake is my sister's favorite. Its moist, soft and yummy and has a good shelf life. Which makes it convenient for her to pack it to hostel and work. What I like most about this cake is the ease at which it can be prepared

Strawberry Milk Shake

The smell and taste of strawberries are really addictive...so is this shake. I buy all my baking supplies from the shop 'Bakers & Butlers'. I think its the only shop in Calicut where u can find baking stuff. They offer a wide range of imported products too (cream of tartar, maple syrup, light corn syrup.. being some of them).

Fish Cutlets

Living in the coastal city of Kozhikode how can I ignore fish. People here are famous for their love for seafood. You can see them having fish even for breakfast. And we have a wide range of seafood  dishes to offer. Some of them are so popular that they have become the identity of the city.' Kallumma kaya' being the most famous among them.

Chicken Fry ( Kerala Style)

I have never ordered chicken 65 from any restaurant, its not because am health conscious, its just that those few pieces will never be enough for us. I have searched a lot for a fool proof recipe until I/ found this . Its not chicken 65 recipe but a kerala style fry. I think its better than chicken 65,and guilt free too, no synthetic food colours or artificial flavours

Varutharacha Chicken Curry

If u ask a person about his or her favorite dish, most of the answers will be something their mother cooks. Its a fact that everyone thinks their mother is the best cook in the world. I do think like that. May be my mother is a bit more.... that her cooking has a few fans outside the family too.. She gets requests for some dishes over n over and this chicken curry is one among them. Or may be the most popular.

Ragi Payasam

Yet another summer friendly dish. Ragi a nutritious food which has a cooling effect on body. There are a variety of sweet and savory dishes that can be prepared with ragi. Since its summer I prefer ragi this way. We make this frequently now. Cook and keep it ready in the morning, by the time its 11 or 12 ,when the sun is high up and the heat is unbearable, have a cup of ragi...its so so relaxing....

Grape Banana Smoothie

A summer friendly drink. I am a smoothie lover ever since my childhood. As I have said before this is the only season am allowed cold stuff. So I experiment with all sort of combinations possible during this time. Well not all outcomes are edible. This one is a combination of grape ,banana (robasta) and vanilla ice cream.

An Anniversary Cake

My mom and dad celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary on 17th march. 32 years of love and togetherness .., which created a wonderful family atmosphere for us [ Me and my Sis] to cherish . Thanking them for their love... care.. and all those values they have taught to mold us into the individuals we are now.

Mint Tea

This recipe tops my list of summer refreshments. We have to drink lots of water during summer to balance the water loss due to profuse sweating. But its not just water we lose ,so drinking plain water alone cant replenish the loss.

Pineapple Souffle

Uff.....the summer is on ,its hot hot super hot.... The temperature is increasing year by year... I cant imagine that once we played outdoor games during our summer vacations. At that time the temperature was not this high, the heat was tolerable and the summer breeze were soothing. It was the most awaited time of the year. Now a days its really burning outside, sun burns and heat strokes which we barely heard in those days has become too common

How To Process Ragi

I can see the questions on your faces reading the title..."what is she talking about..,processing RAGI ??!! ''..... Yes processing ragi.... This post is dedicated to all first time Moms..... Having your first baby means doubts and questions from the time the pregnancy is confirmed..every next second you seek answers.... Being gone through all those very recently am sure of it. Now my little one is one year old,but still am not out of that state,i panic on even the silliest things regarding him.

Double Layer Custard Pudding

I always like to cook from scratch but sometimes we can't help depending on those shortcuts. This time i had to make a dessert on short notice and i was run out of supplies for my favorites. I searched my pantry and dig out two boxes of custard powder which i had stocked to try a welcome drink

Chocolate truffle cake

A very happy valentines day to all...!!! Thinking of a recipie for valentines day i got stuck on this chocolate cake...there is nothing better than a chocolate recipie to celebrate the day of love...instead of gifting a box of chocolate or any store bought chocolate cake, this time surprise your loved one with something from your own effort...and I think this chocolate cake will surely win your valentine's heart.
