Cauliflower Thoran


This is a very easy and tasty recipe. With very few ingredients, it makes a great side dish for rice and roti.

Ingredients 
  • Cauliflower  -  1 nos
  • Potatoes   -   2 medium
  • Onions  -  1 medium
  • Turmeric powder  -  1/4 tsp
  • Salt  -  to taste
  • Pepper powder  -  to taste
  • Curry leaves  -  1 or 2 spring 
  • Oil  -  1 or 2 tsp  
Method 
  • Clean the cauliflower florets, drain and keep aside. 
  • Cut potatoes into medium sized pieces, keep aside. 
  • Heat a kadai add 2 tsp oil and saute the sliced onions till transparent. 
  • Add cauliflower and potatoes and saute for a few minutes. Add enough water to cook.
  • Add required salt and turmeric powder, cover and cook till done. 
  • Finally add curry leaves and pepper to taste, mix well and switch off the flame after one minute.
  • Serve hot.
Notes
  • Be careful while cooking cauliflower, we don't want it to be mushy. So once it's 3/4th cook remove the lid and cook open until all water dries up.
